U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, has a knack for missing the ultimate goal–whether it’s running for President, trying to negotiate the end of the Syrian Civil War, or unsuccessfully mediating between the Israelis and Palestinians. Still, this one takes the cake! As the top diplomat for the U.S. it’s supposed to be his job to protect the American people and guard the interests of our country on the international stage, but both the final nuclear deal with the Iranians AND the way he went about negotiating it scream of arrogance and self serving legacy building.
Here’s the real kicker…I’m predicting that John Kerry will get rewarded for his mistakes!
In a recent article by Reuters and The Huffington Post, former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage highlighted Kerry’s mis-steps,
Kerry’s determination to headline the talks is obvious from his travel schedule. In the last six months, he has met his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Jawad Zarif everywhere from Geneva, Paris, Davos, Lausanne, Montreux and Munich to New York City. Veteran negotiators say Kerry’s willingness to meet the Iranians so often makes it look like he is chasing a deal, rather than intervening only when the toughest issues remain. ‘Being secretary of state by odometer is a very false measure,’ said Richard Armitage, a deputy secretary of state under Republican President George W. Bush. ‘The administration is too eager,’ added Armitage. ‘Iranians can smell this. And if the secretary of state is willing to airmail himself in at the 11th and a half hour every time, what incentive is it for the Iranians to give you their bottom line?’
Most people who can negotiate a car purchase could do better than that! Nearly every aspect of this ‘deal’ is tilted in Iran’s favor, at best, and more realistically places the U.S. in real danger. Not convinced by his mishandling of the Iranian nuclear deal? Then take a look at how he and President Obama have cozied up to the communist dictatorial regime of the Castro brothers in Cuba while alienating and overtly disrespecting the Cuban’s who have placed themselves in true danger for the sake of democracy. Just this week Kerry oversaw the re-opening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana while Fidel Castro called for millions of dollars in damages to be paid to Cuba due to the American trade embargo. Truly hard to decide which deal is worse for America and will endanger our future more–selling the farm to Iran or Cuba?
It doesn’t take a Ph.D in International Relations to identify Kerry’s glaring mistakes but I’m predicting he will get rewarded for what many have called treason. Whether it’s another run for President of the United States or receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, don’t be surprised when it happens.
Think it can’t happen? It already has!
Just look at former Vice President Al Gore and the accolades that were shoveled on him for getting it completely wrong with Global Warming. I, and many others have already petitioned the Nobel Committee to have his Nobel Prize returned and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to do it again for a future Nobel Peace Prize jointly awarded to John Kerry and Mohammad Jawad Zarif. I don’t want to be right about this…I really don’t, because it shows how twisted, confused, and misled so many people are in our world today. They consume what they read in the headlines and what they’re fed by the government as unconditional truth without ever engaging their brains and critically thinking on these topics for themselves. What might Kerry do with the Nobel prize money and recent media exposure over Iran and Cuba? How about another flamboyant run for President?
While I hope I’m wrong for once on this, just wait and see what John Kerry’s reward will be for his most recent and disastrous mistake.
